You know how a course is put together before starting it: how many lessons it has and how long it will take you.
You understand why your progress is saved on its own and you can pick it back up whenever you want.
You know the quiz rules in advance: how much time you have, what score you need, and how many attempts you have left.
Entering the course
From My Learning, click the course card. You land on the main screen, which shows your progress as a completion percentage, the course description, and the Course content: the list of all the sections.
To one side, a card summarizes what the course includes — how many lessons, videos, and quizzes — and that is where you start from.
Working through the sections
When you enter a section, the content list stays fixed on the left along with the Course Progress, so you always see where you are. The material for that section appears on the right.
Each section has its own Lesson Progress: it is at 0% until you complete it and goes to 100% when you finish.
The sections are taken in order. You cannot jump to a later lesson without having completed the previous ones. If you try, the platform will not let you move forward.
A section can have text to read, a video, a hands-on activity, or a quiz.
If it is a video, you have to watch all of it. If you try to mark the section as finished before the video reaches the end, it is not completed.
Your progress is saved on its own. You can close the course halfway through and pick it back up later: the sections you already completed stay marked.
The quiz
Before you start, the screen tells you how many minutes you have and what the minimum passing score is.
The clock keeps running even if you leave the screen. If you close the tab or go to another section, the timer continues.
If you pass, a congratulations message appears with the score you got and a button to continue with the course.
If you do not reach the minimum, the platform tells you so, suggests reviewing the course, and offers Try again.
The attempts
When the course has an attempt limit, above the quiz you see a Quiz attempts card with how many you have left out of the total and a bar showing what you have used. If your company allows retrying per day, the card also tells you how long until they reset. If your company configured a single attempt, the card warns you that you have one single chance and there is no reset: once you submit the quiz, whether you pass or not, you cannot take it again.
If that card does not appear, it is because the course has no limit: you can attempt it as many times as you need.
When you finish
When you complete the last section, the platform takes you straight to your certificate.
No. The course is sequential: each section is unlocked when you have completed the previous one.
No. Progress is saved automatically and completed sections stay marked. You pick up where you were.
It depends on how your company configured it. If the limit is per day, the attempts reset on their own and the Quiz attempts card tells you how long until you have them available again. If your company configured a single attempt, they do not reset: ask whoever administers Whalemate in your organization to enroll you in the course again, and that new enrollment gives you one more attempt.
The clock keeps running while the quiz is open, so you may have less time left when you come back. It is best to start it when you have the full number of minutes available.
When you complete the last one, the platform takes you to your certificate. It is also stored in Profile → Certificates.
