Prevents learners from memorizing the order of questions or answers.
Increases the fairness and randomness of quiz attempts.
Lets you set a uniform configuration for all assessments.
Controls how many times each employee can attempt a quiz: per day, once only, or without limit.
Adjusts the rigor and difficulty of the learning experience to the organization's needs.
Go to Settings → Academy → Quizzes.
Enable or disable the following options:
Randomize questions: the order of the questions changes every time a learner takes the quiz.
Randomize answers: the order of the options within each question changes on every attempt.
Quiz attempt limit: choose between three modes. The mode you pick applies to every quiz in your company's Academy.
Per day: the employee can retry within a 24-hour window. Choosing this mode reveals the Maximum quiz attempts field, where you set how many.
Single: the employee has one single attempt per enrollment, with no retries.
Unlimited: the employee can attempt the quiz as many times as they want.
About Per day mode. Only failed attempts are counted: if the employee passes, that attempt does not consume the limit. The counter starts with the first failed attempt and is released 24 hours after that first attempt — not at midnight, and not 24 hours after the last one. Example with the limit set to 3: if someone fails at 10 a.m., they have two more attempts and the window is released at 10 a.m. the next day, regardless of when they made the last one. Once they reach the limit, they see a message telling them they have to wait before trying again.
About Single mode. The attempt is consumed when the employee submits the quiz, whether they pass or fail. If they open it and abandon it without submitting, nothing is consumed. If they need another chance, they have to be enrolled in the course again: each new enrollment grants a new attempt.
The quantity field appears only in Per day mode, and accepts numbers greater than or equal to 1. If you enter 0, the screen warns you: "Maximum attempts must be a number greater than or equal to 1".
Save the changes with the Save button.
You can use Reset to return to the default values.
Important notes
It is disabled by default, always showing questions and answers in the same order.
If your company already had a limit configured, its behavior does not change: the selector starts in the mode matching that previous configuration.
These settings affect every quiz and course in the organization.
Does it affect all courses and quizzes?
Yes. This setting is applied globally to the entire organization.
Can I change it for one specific quiz only?
Not for the moment. The setting is general for every quiz in Academy.
What happens if I disable both randomization options?
Quizzes will always be presented in the same order, both the questions and the answers.
Do attempts reset every 24 hours?
Only in Per day mode, and the window is 24 consecutive hours counted from the first failed attempt: if someone failed at 6 p.m., it is released at 6 p.m. the next day, not at midnight. In Single mode there is no reset, and in Unlimited there is no limit to reset.
An employee used their single attempt and needs another one. What do I do?
Enroll them in the course again. The single attempt is per enrollment, so a new enrollment grants them a new attempt. There is no need to change the mode for the whole company.
Is the single attempt consumed if they abandon the quiz without finishing it?
No. It is consumed on submission. If they open the quiz and close the tab without submitting, they keep their attempt.
